Who is eligible for Grants for Alberta Disable & Senior Home Owners?

 Albertans of any age who use wheelchairs
 Seniors who use a wheelchair or four-wheel
walker
 People who have progressive neurodegenerative
diseases, including multiple
sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, ALS (Lou
Gehrig's disease), COPD (chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease), Parkinson's
disease, Alzheimer's disease, spina bifida,
spinal cord injuries, or non-recovering
stroke

What are the income/asset limits?

 Applicants must have a gross household
income of $36,900 or less for a single
person, or $46,500 or less for a couple
 Amount can be increased by $9,600 for
each child under 21 years of age still living
at home and attending school full-time
 Amount can be increased by $7,131 if the
family is applying for a dependent child
under 18 who uses a wheelchair
 For applicants who bought a home within
the last 24 months, property value
thresholds apply as follows:

Calgary $510,000
Edmonton $420,000
Fort McMurray $660,000
Grande Prairie $360,000
Red Deer $390,000
Lethbridge $300,000
Medicine Hat $330,000
All rural areas $276,000

Is the Grants for Alberta Disable & Senior Home Owners available to people who rent?

 Yes, with approval from the landlord
 Either permanent or temporary
modifications can be done with landlord
approval

 

Will RAMP fund projects that are already
finished?

 

 If the project falls within RAMP’s policy
guidelines it may be considered
 Applications should be submitted to RAMP
as soon as possible, but no later than 90
days of the project being completed

The Ontario Renovates Program Brantford Program offers financial assistance to low to moderate income families to:

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

You may be eligible for the Ontario Renovates Program Brantford Program if:

Your total household income is at or below the following thresholds for the Brant – Brantford area:
One bedroom (single or couple) – $33,5000
Two bedroom (single or couple with one child) – $41,000
Three bedroom (single or couple with two children)- $50,500
Four bedroom (single or couple with three or more children) – $61,500

You own a home that is your sole and principle residence with an assessed value of $200,000 or less
Household assets must be below $30,000 (which includes investments, stocks, bonds, shares, securities, RRSPs, GICs, Credit Union accounts, annuities, etc.)
Your house needs repairs or modifications in one of the following areas: structural, heating, electrical, fire safety, plumbing or accessibility.
Property taxes and mortgage payments are up to date
Insurance coverage is in place for the full market value of the home

Ontario Renovates Program Brantford

HOW MUCH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE MAY YOU RECEIVE?

Households are allowed one application under the Ontario Renovates Program Brantford Program. Funding is provided as a fully forgivable loan, which is written off at an equal rate over a 10 year period. The loan is not repaid if the homeowners remain as owners and live in the home during the 10 year forgivable period.

WHAT REPAIRS CAN BE DONE?

To qualify, existing homes must need repairs to bring them up to a minimum level of health and safety, and/or permanent modifications to increase accessibility for the occupant's disability. All repair work must include energy-saving products where possible.

Structural (including building exterior such as roofs, foundations or walls)
Plumbing, fire safety, electrical and/or heating

Examples of eligible accessibility work include:

Ramps, Handrails, Chair and bath lifts, and

The City of Cornwall as Service Manager delivers the Forgivable Grants for Cornwall Home owners funding to eligible property owners within the City of Cornwall and United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry.

Components

Forgivable Grants for Cornwall Home owners

An Urgent Home Repair component where eligible homeowners can receive a maximum forgivable loan of $16,000, which is earned over a 10-year period. Projects that may qualify under this component include upgrades to heating systems, doors, windows, roofs and electrical systems.

The total household must meet the income limits shown in the Forgivable Grants for Cornwall Home owners Eligibility chart to the right (line 236 of the 2016 Income Tax Notice of Assessment) – combined income of all members of the household 18 years & older (who are not full-time students).

The property is owned and, is the sole and principal residence of the applicant.

Property taxes and mortgage payments are up-to-date.
Insurance coverage is in place for the full value of home.
The property is located within the City of Cornwall or the United
Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry.

Background

Forgivable Grants Available in Grey County is part of the Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH) Program, a provincial program providing funding for the creation and repair of affordable housing. It is based on the principles of Ontario’s Long-Term Affordable Housing Strategy. Funding for the program is renewed each year in April and needs to be committed by December 31.

The Person with Disabilities Ontario Renovates Program for Hamilton offers financial assistance to households occupied by persons with disabilities who require special modifications to improve accessibility to their residence.

Homeowners may apply if the value of their house is below a certain value and if their household income is at or below certain levels that are based on the number of people in the household. Eligibility is limited to properties in need of major repair in one or more of the following categories: Structural, Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Fire Safety.


Ontario Renovates Program
Ontario Renovates Program for Hamilton Home Repairs criteria includes but is not limited to:

 

applicants must own and occupy the home, which requires work, as their sole and principal residence;
maximum total household Canadian and foreign gross annual income at or below $60,000;
total household Canadian and foreign assets at or below $10,000;
the assessed value of the home must not exceed $250,000;
the mortgage, property taxes, and home insurance must be paid up-to-date; with no arrears owing.

Approved applicants are required to sign a Loan Agreement to be registered on the title of the home. The cost of a legal representative and registration may be an eligible cost under the program.

Assistance is provided as a 10 year forgivable loan up to a maximum of $20,000 to assist with the cost of certain work required to the home.

If the homeowner remains in the home as their sole and principal residence for the 10 year forgivable loan period, and complies with all program requirements during the term, the loan is interest free and payment free and is completely forgiven after 10 years.

Ontario Renovates Program

The full amount of the loan is repayable if false information was provided by the applicant and/or the funding is used for purposes other than the approved use. If the homeowner ceases to occupy the home as the sole and principal residence, 10% of the loan is forgiven each year and the pro-rated balance of the loan is repayable.

Mandatory repairs relating to health and safety and to extending the useful life of the property qualify. It is important to keep in mind that this assistance is for basic mandatory repairs and not repairs to modernize or improve the appearance on the home.

Eligible repairs for Ontario Renovates Program for Hamilton Home Repairs may include the following activities:

  • Repair / replacement required to remedy leaky roofs where deterioration is beyond practical repairs,
  • basement leaking
  • mould/asbestos removal to eliminate a present health hazard
  • fire safety items
  • electrical defects
  • repairs / replacement mandated by the local municipal Building Department;

replacement of a furnace (or the home’s primary heat source) that has been flagged as obsolete and/or at the end of its useful life and/or beyond practical repair and/or has been tagged prohibiting use.
Ontario Renovates Program
Modifications to increase accessibility including:

  • permanent installations of ramps,
  • handrails, chair and bath lifts,
  • height adjustments to counter tops.
  • cues for doorbells/fire alarms.

Any work started prior to the registration of the Loan Agreement on title is not eligible for program funding.

Work must begin within 45 days of date the Loan Agreement is registered on title and be completed within 120 days of commencement.
